Short and Rodder Tailors - Winton store 1906
By 1971 Warren was ready to branch out, buying a small shirt manufacturing business, known as Kristex manufactured and supplied shorts under the name of "Mr Man " as well as Kristex label shirts, however, it was not long before the appearance of "stubbies" shorts a forced change of direction. The company urgently needed a new marketing approach and name in order to compete successfully. At the time when XXXX stubbies were the most popular drink, Warren approached Castlemaine Perkins with a view to adopting the name Fourex Clothing. That bid was successful, resulting in the renaming of the company. In 1972 the Fourex label was registered.
The new name, Fourex Clothing gave the company impetus in the market. In 1979 Fourex won the first of the Australian Small Business Awards introduced by the Federal Government. In this inaugural year, Fourex Clothing was one of the few national winners.
In 1996 Warren retired, leaving son John to take over the role as managing director. Warren's wife Jan also retired in 1998. Both Warren and Jan remain as directors of the company.
